I've tried the solution Thyiad linked to, but I'm still getting a CD required to start D2 message (no big deal). I wasn't really looking to install Daemon Tools, but I remember seeing them mentioned last time this type of thread came up (if I never use the CD that guarantees I won't be able to find it when I buy a new comp.

Thanks for the feedback everyone (especially omg, if that works - I haven't tried it yet, but our search engine is obviously crappy). I know this topic has come up before but of course I can't find the thread because CD is 'too short' of a term to search for.:censored. Does anyone know of a way to force the search engine to search for 'too short' words?

Game startup and moving to a new act when questing seems like the only two obvious times. I'm not looking to install a no-CD crack (I used one when I first started playing D2 once upon a time - it was crappy), so I'm wondering at what points is it necessary to have the actual game CD in the drive. During this long and arduous process, a little D2 seems like a great time-killer, but obviously with only one CD drive, I can't plow through D2 AND copy CD's - it seems like some (semi)intelligent swapping is in order. Playing without the LoD CD - no, not hacks I just bought an external harddrive and I'm in the process of digitizing my ~450 music albums. Can anyone help? Here is the error message: It occurs both with D2 and LoD. My current pc setup.īut I've asked on twitter, but I am unsure if they will be able to help. I have the original discs for Diablo 2 and LOD, i reclaimed the games from B.Net and downloaded the installers for both. You are then able to download diablo 2 free from them with the latest updates and patch, and you don't need the cd to play. One easy way to get it is to just register your CD key with blizzard.
